Started in September 2020 and funded by the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility programme, EDSSI will provide basic infrastructure for students, student service providers and higher education institutions.

The digitisation of the Erasmus+ programme processes and the improvement of student mobility quality in Europe  (European Digital Student Service Infrastructure) are now the common objectives of all European players. Many projects are contributing to this effort, following the My Academic ID project, the European Digital Student Services Infrastructure (EDSSI) project will provide the missing link to connect all elements and upgrade the MyAcademicID platform to become the central student mobility production platform.

The infrastructure – currently under development – will allow higher education institutions to reliably exchange Erasmus+ student data and provide secure access to student mobility services using their eIDAS institutional identification

As a result of its Education-Research Federation operator expertise in France, RENATER is especially involved in European Student Identifier related topics and its transmission using the Edugain Federation.
