The ECNi (National computerised ranking tests) are designed to provide access to PhD level medical studies. Over 8,500 medical students took them simultaneously in real time on labelled tablets.

The National Management Centre (CNG) in charge of this project under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, asked RENATER to provide a solution to transport the online test data.

A specific virtual private network (L3VPN) was deployed to guarantee secure connections between the 34 test sites and the CNG data centre (ECNi central resources). Backup 4G accesses were set up to guarantee resilience.

This technological and educational feat is the result of public-private collaboration based on the RENATER national education and research network. CNG and RENATER received an award at the “Victoires des Acteurs publics” (Public actor awards) 2016, for the best initiatives in the modernisation of public actions.
