Since 2016, RENATER has been providing a data transport solution for the online medical exams at the request of the Centre National de Gestion (CNG), which organises the exams under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

A dedicated virtual private network (L3VPN) has been deployed to provide a secure connection between the 34 test sites and the CNG data centre (ECNi central resources). Back-up 4G accesses were set up to ensure resilience.

For three days, in 34 examination centres, more than 8,500 students will be simultaneously composing in a variety of tests, with the aim of achieving a good position in the rankings that will give them access to their future speciality and the university hospital of their choice.

In 2023, following changes linked to the reform of the 2nd cycle of medical studies, new examinations known as EDN (Épreuves Dématérialisées Nationales) were introduced, replacing the ECNi for students starting their 4th year in 2021.
