RENATER actively participates in the LHCONE (Large Hadron Collider Open Network Environment) development, a network dedicated to the sites participating in the LHC experiments at CERN, which provides very high speed connectivity for communications between the sites that carry out data processing, such as the Tier1 and Tier2 computing centres such as the CC-IN2P3 (Tier1). CERN’s experiments will enter a RUN3 phase, which, at the network level, is characterised by an increase in traffic of a factor of 5 to 10, expected in 2021.
