- Training description
Objectives
From implicit knowledge of multicast pre-requisites, each student will learn how to deploy and manage multicast service in his/her own network.
Method
The first part of the course will be spent on practical exercises on a testbed. In the second part of the training, each participant will present a solution he/she plans to implement on his/her own network. All the audience will participate to validate the solution.
- Pre-requisites
Multicast theory knowledge
Ideally, course participants should have attended the Rome EUMEDCONNECT network multicast training and should have a sound understanding of the following protocols:
- IGMP
- PIM
- MBGP
- MSDP
The following is a link to the most relevant tutorial from the Rome training event:
http://www.garr.it/emc_training/tutorials/mcast_tutorial.pdf
All the material covered during the Rome event can be found at:
http://www.garr.it/emc_training/tutorials.htm
Needed
Participants are expected to bring diagrams of their network topology showing:
- Equipment (routers, switches)
- Links
- Protocols deployed
Each participant must have some slides prepared about the way they plan to implement multicast on their own network. Protocols choosen and configurations to deploy must be highlighted.
- Agenda
| Wednesday 2PM - 3PM | Quick recall of different protocols and where they apply - EUMEDCONNECT network multicast specifications |
| Wednesday 3PM - 6PM | Hands-on - deployment in testbed |
| Thursday 9AM - 1PM | Hands-on - deployment in testbed |
| Thursday 2PM - 6PM | Deploying multicast in home networks - interactive session |
| Friday 9AM - 1PM | Deploying multicast in home networks - interactive session |
